The Economic Environment
The study of the economic, political and social environment intends aims to improve the process of decision making in business, applying theories and developments of a microeconomic nature in business, taking account of the context proper to a globalized, competitive and interdependent economy, so that participants can understand the way in which the development of the business depends to a great extent on the national microeconomic context, and on government policy which may affect production costs and access to the markets in which they compete.
This area analyses theoretical and practical aspects which are commonly included in the disciplines of macroeconomics, international commerce, global competitiveness and economic development. The overview of the disciplines offers the businessman tools to improve his capacity for economic analysis, diagnosis and planning production productive activities. This is important in any context in which many strategic decisions depend on what happens in a more interrelated and more global world, in which decisions adopted by other countries or international organizations may influence the viability of individual business activities.
Participants will be expected to evaluate Colombian government policy and its impact on private enterprise, and may make recommendations which refer not only to theoretical aspects of the problem, but also to particular situations which have occurred in this country.
